The character of the coast begins to change and the mountains edge in towards the sea as we head north towards Valencia. The next centre, Altea, is one of the most pleasant sites on the Costa Blanca. New building has not destroyed the character of the lovely Old Town, where many artists have their studios.

Altea’s atmosphere is definitely upmarket. Developments such as Altea Hills and Altea la Vieja are growing on the mountain slopes above the town.
